Rekindling Tradition
The Raiderettes are a high school drill team founded in 1967, known for their precision dancing and iconic routines. They symbolize dedication, discipline, and enduring traditions, making them an institution at Lumberton High School. During a conversation Jenny proposed bringing back an iconic shirt that held significant importance to alumni members. The team is renowned for a performance where they use derricks as props and there was a shirt that was only available to team members the years this dance was done. Together we researched and developed the concept deciding to design as closely to the original as possible but to include new members silhouettes as the dancers.
Design Development
I acquired a photo of the Rettes performance during the season as well as a photo of the original shirt design. The photos were brought into Photoshop and edited then exported to Illustrator where I used the shapebuilder tool to create the derricks and after creating and manipulating variations of the dancer in Photoshop vectorized it.
