Designing 2022
The 2022 theme was "What was old, is new again," and was based on moving past the pandemic and getting back to the way things were. A retro arcade was a significant influence on the books aesthetic and I created the book cover to represent an arcade cabinet which when stood up could give the appearance of the reader sitting at a game based on the school. Available character selection are based off of students and the side panel is intended to look like holographic stickers of group activities.
Designing 2023
The 2023 school year I pushed for staff members to think deeper about the theme of the book and facilitated a design sprint with the staff. For this book, connections were made between each students story and fairy tales with influences from the Enlighted manuscript aesthetic. The cover incorporates the school's Eagle mascot and traditional fairy tale elements. and ideated color options.
